Structure of Parenchyma
Parenchyma cells have different shapes. The shape of parenchyma cells mainly depend
on their function. They may be spherical, oval or polyhedral, cylindrical, irregular or elongate
Parenchyma tissue normally shows prominent intercellular spaces. Cells are usually thin walle
and have only the primary cell wall. Each cell has a central vacoule, surrounded by thin layer
peripheral protoplasm has nucleus. There are 4 types of parenchyma. They are a) Chlorenchym
b) Aerenchyma c) Water storage tissue
d) Storage parenchyma.
