•The baby was weeping in the room.

•Where were the children playing.

•My mother was cooking when the telephone bell rang.

•She was crossing the road.

●In affirmative sentence we use was, were according to the subject with 1st form of the verb+ing.

●In negative sentence we put not between the helping verb and the present participle (1st form of the verb+ing) ofain verb.

●In interrogative sentence the helping verb is put before the subejct.
