Structure of ear:

To hear any sound we use ears.

Our ear is located on the Petraeus part of our temporal bone.

Our ear is decided upon three parts, as follows:-

  • Outer Ear (external ear):

-Auricle, or school or more commonly known as the pinna, is the outer part of the ear. This part of the human ear is usually fixed.

It is the visible part of our ear which projects from the sides of our head. This is made from Fibroelastic Cartilage. It has folds present in it. Helix is the outer ring present in our ear. Lobule or ear lobe is a part where we people do piercing. This part is very soft and made up of fat.

- External acoustic meatus or Auditory canal is a long tube.

  • Middle Ear (tympanic cavity): This starts from the tympanic membrane. This is called an eardrum more commonly. This happens to be very thin.

-Auditory tube bring the air from nose to ear. It happens to stabilize the pressure of air in the tympanic membrane.

  • Inner ear (inner ear):

-Vestibule: This helps in maintaining the balance of our body.

Complete Function:

The outer is ear is shaped as such which collects all sound waves. it passes through the auditory canal. Then, the eardrum vibrates along with Malleus, Kraus, and stapes. It goes further deep and in the inner ear, flutes are present. Due to these sound waves, these flutes vibrate. There are sensory cells presents that transfer this information to nerves. These nerve impulses are later converted into sound impulses which are then heard by us.
