Maxwell’s right-hand thumb rule: Magnetic field produced around a straight conductor carrying current. The Maxwell right-hand thumb rule indicates the direction of the magnetic field in a direction of the current. If the thumb of the right-hand points along the direction of the current, then the remaining curled fingers of the same hand gives the direction of the magnetic field due to the current. When the position of the thumb will be upward, the curled fingers will be anti-clockwise and the magnetic field will be anti-clockwise too and vice versa.
