The passive voice of the sentence “student are making a noise in the class” is changed to “A noise is being made by the students in the class”.

Passive voice is the one where in ‘emphasis’ is placed on the ‘action being performed’ rather than on “who is performing the action”. The ‘person or the object performing the action’ becomes the subject and is not given much importance in passive voice. This means that passive voice does not generally want to know or refer to the “person or object performing the action”.

The passive voice uses the preposition by to show or denote who is performing the action. The “passive voice” is used when the main focus is the action that is being performed.
