The digital technology in today's advanced era has multiple advantages and disadvantages.
It is up to humans as for how to use it either in a fruitful or beneficial way or in a way that can be a nuisance to their career and personal lives.
The students are generally of a younger age that are addicted to digital technology and use the sources as entertainment means rather than using them in a useful way.
It cannot be denied that technology can provide a huge distraction to students as well as educators and parents alike. It is not uncommon to see a teacher steal a quick glance at his or her social media or personal messages while in class. Such kind of distraction not only sets the class back by a few minutes in literal time, but it sets them all back by quite a bit mentally. If this happens regularly, it can cause quite some damage over time.
It is no secret that students are also majorly distracted by their devices. Be it in class or while studying at home, students often get hugely involved in their messages, social media, and even taking selfies when they had originally picked up the gadget to research something for their homework.
There is very interesting quote related to none other than the greatest scientist of all time– "Albert Einstein". The quote goes like this– "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots". Though the quote dates back to decades ago, it relevance can be felt or realised in the modern times when our lives are totally surrounded by technology.
Technology has taken giant leaps since the days of Einstein. Every aspect of the modern day life is touched by technology either directly or indirectly. The most affected by it seem to be the youths or the youngsters.Though the older generation is not efficient in using modern technology, but every single youth is a tech-savvy. They simply cannot live without technology around them and we can sure to say that the day Albert Einstein feared has most certainly arrived.
Whenever we go out we always find youngsters glued to their mobiles or laptops. It is quite astonishing sometimes to find that they use technology to interact with person in the vicinity, in the same building or even in the same room.The impacts of this can be seen in our diminishing human interaction.
Well, there is no denying fact that technology has helped bridging the gaps immensely but at what cost?? We find a young child of 3 operating a mobile phone cute,but fail to realise that the child is not even able to understand the meanings of words appearing on the screen.
Technology is surely making the youth lazy and dumb as everything we wanna know, remember or get is just a click away.Books have taken a back seat and libraries are seldom visited. We don't use our memory and 'Google' everything.We don't go to markets anymore and shop from the comforts of our home. We don't don't even do anymore simple calculations in our head.., why? Because we have calculators! Moreover, we have started to believe what technology puts into our minds without even using our common sense. We are so much dependent on it that if our phones don't work for a single day, we think that we have been transported to dark ages.
We must hence realise that too much reliance on technology is a serious issue.What if technology we use today may be wiped out tomorrow? In such cases we will be helpless.Hence, it is high time to face the fact that too much of anything can lead to serious results and the same thing is true for technology also.We should mend our ways. Our brain is like any other muscle that we have in our body. If we don't exercise it enough then it is prone to get weak.
