as in the question it is given already that

30% are over weight

then  colony of 1000 Americans in new jersey

so total over weight persons=30% of 1000

=30 x 1000/100

= 300

hence it is proved that 300 persons are over weight.

Given: On an average 30% of the Americans are over weight.

The number of Americans in a colony in New Jersey = 1000.

To find: Number of Americans who would be over weight

Solution: We need to calculate how many Americans would be over weight out of 100 people if the percentage of over weight people is 30%.

Hence, we need to find how much is 30% of 1000.

30% of 1000

= 30/100 × 1000

= 3/10 × 1000

= 3 × 100

= 300

Therefore, the number of of Americans who would be over weight is 300.
