THIS TYPE OF FOOD CHAIN TELLS US THAT GRASS, food chain on the left, grasses are the producers. Grasses, in turn, are consumed by grasshoppers. Because grasshoppers directly consume producers, they are called primary consumers. At the next level of the food chain, grasshoppers are consumed by frog, which are called secondary consumers.
>>In the second case
Wheat are producers. wheat in turn are consumed by rat and lastly consumed by snake which is a secondary consumer.
The 10%law is applicable for energy transfer from producers to the consumers at the various trophic levels since, the frog is at thrd tropic levels while hawk is a 4th tropic levels . Frog will get more energy then the hawk.
Answer:
The snake will receive more energy as compared to Hawk .
Explanation:
Food chain : It s the process of eating and being eaten .
1.The food chain comprises of different levels that is trophic levels .
2. The trophic levels are occupied as given below :
1st level : Autotrophs (green plants )
2nd level : Herbivores (primary consumer )
3rd level : carnivores (secondary consumer )
4th level : Decomposers ( Tertiary consumer )
3.At all level energy transfer takes place .
4.The flow of energy is in one direction that is from 1st level to last level .
5.The energy flow occurs in accordance to 10 percent law : That is at each level the actual energy transfer is 10 percent of the total energy available at previous level .
6.Mostly the food chain is upto 5-6 level because after that energy available for transfer is almost nil .
7.So, that is the reason the snake will have higher energy as it precedes hawk in food chain .
