It is  true that the study of fossil is an important aspect of study of evolution.

1.Palaeontology is the study of the “history of life on Earth” as based on fossils.

2.The replacement of rock material or impression of organism such as remains of animals, fungi, plants, “bacteria, and single-celled living things” are preserved in rock, which is deals with the dead animals and plants.

3.The entire field is to check on to the existed and survived in the past and the evolution and origin of the plants.

4.The ‘dinosaurs’ are the best suitable example of fossil study.

Hope it helps :)
