study that looked at the stomach contents of juvenile Great White Sharks found that these

marine animals ate dolphins, rays and other sharks that dwell at the bottom of the sea.

However, recent years saw a significant drop in shark populations.

There was also an extensive decline in the United States shellfish industry due to the increased

consumption of molluscs by rays.

With the information given  , we can deduce  the root cause for this decline of the sellfish industry as  the loss of ecological balance

  • Because of the drop in predator populations , the population of rays significantly increased that resulted in  a drop in shark prey , namely shellfish
  • The other reason for declination of selfish industry was , The extensive decline in United states Industry which was due to the Increase in consumption of Molluscs By rays .
  • That resulted in the decline of Sellfish industry
