Given : AA₁=A₁A₂=A₂A₃=BB₁=B₁B₂=B₂B₃=B₃B₄

AB = 6.3 cm

AA₃ ||  BB₄

To Find : AP

Solution:

in ΔAPA₃ and ΔBPB₄

∠A = ∠B   ( alternate angles)

∠AAPA₃ = ∠BPB₄   ( vertically opposite angles)

=>  ΔAPA₃ ≈ ΔBPB₄  ( AA)

=> AA₃ / BB₄    = AP / BP

AA₃  = 3AA₁    ∵ AA₁=A₁A₂=A₂A₃=BB₁=B₁B₂=B₂B₃=B₃B₄

BB₄  = 4BB₁

=> AA₃ / BB₄  = 3/4

=> 3/4  = AP/BP

=> 3BP  = 4AP

=> 3(AB - AP)  = 4AP

=> 3AB - 3AP = 4AP

=> 3AB = 7AP

=> AP = 3AB/7

=> AP  = 3 ( 6.3)/7

=> AP = 3 (0.9)

=> A P =  2.7  cm
