1) A monohybrid  cross is often a hybrid among two individuals with homozygous genotypes resulting in the opposite phenotype for a certain genetic trait. "The combination among  two cross monohybrid traits is called the Monohybrid Cross."

Monohybrid cross is important for the inheritance of a single gene. This can be easily shown from Punnett Square.

Monohybrid cross are used by geneticists to analyze how homozygous offspring transmit heterozygous genotypes inherited from their parents.
