the revolt of 1857 was very important in determining Indian history. In 1857 march there was a rumour that the cartilage used in guns were made of flesh of pig. This was insulting for both hindus and muslims who were inthe sepoy army. When Bhagat Singh was executed many sepoys revolt they disobeyed thier officers and hence were sentenced to jail on 9th march 1857. On 10th march the sepoys marched to barrackpur jail and freed their fellow mates. Now they wanted a leader to lead the revolt. They marched to delhi to Bahadur Shah Zafar and made him their leader. many kings who had lost their country decided to help Zafar so they can get their kingdom back. The revolt outbreak. there were many different groups revolting in different ares. But the revolt failed mainly because the revolutionists were not United, they were fighting differently. As a result of the revolt there were hopes of independent India. After this revolt there were more rebels of the British government. It took 2 years to suppress the revolt . After that British government took the charge from east India company and India was directly controlled by the british crown. They assured that no Kingdom would be anexed in future. The properties of muslims were confiscated because they thought that muslims were main reason of revolt. the proportion of Indian sepoys in the army were reduced and doctrine of lapse was removed.
