a) (i) AB = y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 {A(0,0) ; B(2,4.6) }

AB = 4.6 - 0 / 2 - 0

AB = 4.6 / 2

AB = 2.3 units

(ii) BC = y2 - y1 /x2 - x1 {B(2,4.6) ; C(10,4.6) }

BC = 10 - 2 / 4.6 - 4.6

BC = 8/0

BC = 0 units

(iii) CD = y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 {C(10,4.6) ;D(12,0) }

CD = 12 - 10 / 0 - 6

CD = 2/-6

CD = -1/3 = -0.3 units (Approx)

b) Total distance travelled = Area under slope (Area of trapezium)

= 1/2 × (Sum of parallel sides) × Height

= 1/2 × (BC + AD) × 4.6

= 1/2 × (8 + 12) × 4.6

= 1/2 × 20 × 4.6

= 46 units
