Region D is the only region which contains water (option d)
- From the point A to B, we can see the temperature rises from -10°C to 0°C. This suggests the H2O molecules are in solid state i.e. they are ice. The temperature increase from -10 to 0°C indicates that the particles of ice are gaining heat which will provide them the energy to move apart.
- From the point B to C, the ice is changing state. Melting is in process, which justifies the increase in temperature.
- The uniformity in the temperature at region D, suggests that the particles have no more energy left to move apart and melt further. This means the ice changed it's state to liquid. It has become water.
- Hence, the region d suggests that the H2O molecules are in liquid state.
