Study the velocity-time graph of an ascending passenger lift in the figure. What is the acceleration of the lift:-
(a). During the first two seconds.
(b). Between the second and tenth second.
(c). during the last two seconds
(d). What does the area of velocity-time indicate?

(i) Acceleration during first two seconds =

2−0

4.6−0

=2.3m/s

(ii) Acceleration between second and tenth second is zero, since the velocity is constant during this time.

(iii) Acceleration during last two seconds =

12−10

0−4.6

=−2.3m/s
