The highest military generals of South Africa defence coarse and police saluted Nelson Mandela and plugged their loyality when the military general saluted Mandela he was not un-mindful of the fact that not so many years before they would not have saluted but arrested me.

These changed in attitude was due to the fact that Nelson Mandela was the President of South Africas first democratic government.
