  • Length of chord passing through the center of the cord is 10 cm

To Find

  • The radius of the circle.

Solution

The chord mentioned above is the diameter.

Diameter ⇒ 2 × radius

Diameter ⇒ 2R

Radius ⇒ Diameter ÷ 2

Radius ⇒ 10 ÷ 2

Radius ⇒ 5 cm

∴ The radius is 5 cm

  • Outer diameter of the race track ⇒ 14 cm

To Find

  • The width of the circular race track

Solution

Width of the Circular Race Track = Outer Radius - Inner Radius

Outer Radius ⇒ Outer Diameter ÷ 2

Outer Radius ⇒ 14 ÷ 2

Outer Radius ⇒ 7 cm

Inner Diameter ⇒ 10 cm

Outer Radius ⇒ Outer Radius ÷ 2

Outer Radius ⇒ 10 ÷ 2

Outer Radius ⇒ 5 cm

Width of the Race Track ⇒ 7 - 5

Width of the Race Track ⇒ 2 cm

∴ The width of the following Circular Race Track is 2 cm

Distance Between Their Centers ⇒ 2 + 3

Distance Between Their Centers ⇒ 5 cm

∴ The distance between their centers is 5 cm
