Dissolve

  • Substances like salt and sugar dissolve after the some time when added in the water.

Reason:

  • Water is the- solvent whereas sugar & salt are solute.

  • When the sugar or salt are added to water, positive ions ( called as anions) of the water attracts negative ions of the sugar/salt while the negative ions (cations)of water attracts positive ions of the sugar or the salt.

  • Hence, those molecules of the sugar or the salt can forms the solution with the molecules of water and then this phenomenon is called as the solubility.

  • Thus, sugar & salt  because of the greater solubility gets dissolved in water easily after some time.
