Answer:

x+y=14 eq(1)

x-y=4 eq(2)

by eq 1

x= 14-y (3)

substituting this value in eq (2) , we get

14-y-y=4

14-2y=4

-2y= 4-14

-2y= -10

y = 5

substituting the value of y in eq (3), we get

x= 14-5

x= 9

Hence x= 9 and y = 5

hope this will help you

Answer: X= 9, Y=5

Step-by-step explanation:

for using substitution method

x+y=14

x-4=y

therefore, substituting (x-4) in place of y as y=x-4

therefore, x+(x-4)=14

x+x-4=14

2x-4=14

2x= 14+4

2x=18

x=9

from eq 1

x+y=14

9+y=14

y=14-9

y=5
