Answer:-

1) \: \small 5a - 7ab + 4b \: ; 12a - 9ab + 5b \\ \small = 5a - 7ab + 4b - 12a + 9ab - 5b \\ \small = 5a - 12a - 7ab + 9ab + 4b - 5b \\ \small = 7a - 2ab \: + b

Explaination:-

❖ After 5a - 7ab + 4b - 12a we have to put opposite signs according to the Rules of Algebraic Expressions.

❖ Now, Arrange them with the same alphabets at the ending and also put the sign which is inserted before a particular term.

❖ Now the last work, Play with Signs. That means, If before 7ab + 9b the (-) sign is putted. Just multiply the signs and do the sum.

For example:-

(-) × (+) = (-)

- 7ab + 9ab = 2ab cause, The result/answer by multiplying both the signs (-) is the answer so subtract both.

❖ And insert the signs in the last as it is. Like before 7ab (-) sign is came so, Just put (-) before 2ab.

❖ Also remember, 1 can never be written in such expressions as answer with the variable. Only the variable is inserted when there's 1 as the answer before it!

Hope it helps you ✌
