To subtract :  7x -3x^{2} from -9x + 8x^{2}

Solution :

  • To subtract given algebraic expression, we subtract like terms together.
  • Therefore, arranging given terms in correct order, we get,

        (-9x + 8x^{2} ) - (7x -3x^{2} )

  • Removing parenthesis and changing sign of second term i.e. (7x -3x^{2} ) we subtract given expressions.
  • -9x + 8x^{2} - 7x +3x^{2}

        = -16x + 11x^{2}  \\= 11x^{2}  -16x

Hence, on subtracting  7x -3x^{2} from -9x + 8x^{2} we get 11x^{2}  -16x .
