 {x}^{2}  -  {y}^{2}  = (x + y)(x - y)

We get...

 =  >  {(22)}^{2}  -  {(21)}^{2}  \\  =  > (22 + 21)(22 - 21) \\  =  > 43 \times 1 \\  =  > 43.
