Sum of 1/4 and -3/8 = 1/4 + -3/8 = 2/8 - 3/8 = -1/8

-3/8- -2/7 = -3/8 + 2/7 = (-3*7+2*8)/(8*7) = (-21+16)/56 = -5/56

Additive inverse of this = 5/56

So the required answer = 5/56 - -1/8 = 5/56 + 1/8 = 5/56 + 7/56 = 12/56 = 3/14

3/14 is your answer.
