Answer:

-5/6 + -13/5 = -5×5/6×5 + (-13×6/5×6)

= -25/30 + (-72/30)

= -25-72/30

= -97/30

= 3.23333

2 2/3 + -6 2/5 = 8/3 + (-32/5)

= 8×5/3×5 + (-32×3/5×3)

= 40/15 + (-96/15)

= 40-96/15

= -56/15

= 3.73333333

Now subtracting both the sums:

-56/15 - ( 97/30)

(-56×2/15×2) - (-97/30)

= -112+97/30

= -15/30

= -2

Hoping this answer will useful.

Given: -5/6 and - 1 3/5, and 2 2/3 and -6 2/5.

To find: Difference of the sum of -5/6 and - 1 3/5 from the sum of 2 2/3 and -6 2/5.

Solution:

  • In order to solve the given question, first, the mixed fractions need to be converted to improper fractions.

        -1 \frac{3}{5} = -\frac{8}{5}

        2\frac{2}{3} = \frac{8}{3}

        -6 \frac{2}{5} = -\frac{32}{5}

  • Now, the denominators of -5/6 and -8/3 are to be made equal using L.C.M. and then, they must be added as follows,

        -\frac{5}{6} - \frac{8}{5} = -\frac{25}{30} - \frac{48}{30}

                     = - \frac{73}{30}

  • Now, the denominators of 8/3 and 32/5 are to be made equal using L.C.M. and then, they must be added as follows,

        \frac{8}{3} + \frac{32}{5} = \frac{40}{15} + \frac{96}{15}

                   = \frac{136}{15}

  • Now, -73/30 is to be subracted from 136/15.
  • For that, again the denominators are made equal and then subtracted.

        \frac{136}{15} - (-\frac{73}{30} ) = \frac{272}{30} + \frac{73}{30}

                            = \frac{345}{30}

                            = \frac{21}{2}

                            = 10\frac{1}{2}

Therefore, the difference of the sum of -5/6 and - 1 3/5 from the sum of 2 2/3 and -6 2/5 is 10 1/2.
