Answer:

- 14 - 6

= - 20

In addition and subtraction, we write the sign of the greatest integer in the question. Eg. 6 - 7 = - 1 ; - 9 + 10 = 1

Also, when we add numbers with one negative sign and one positive, we subtract them and put the sign of the greatest number. But when we add two number, both with negative sign we add them. Eg. - 6 + (- 7) = - 13 but - 8 + 9 = - 1

But in multiplication and division two negative signs make one positive sign.

So if a question has even number of negative signs the answer would be positive, and if the questions have odd number of negative signs then the answer would be negative. Eg. 2 × (-3) = - 6 ; (- 5) × (- 7) = + 35
