x=1-y .........Eq( 1 )

Put the value of from Eq( 1 ) into,

x-y=3

So,

(1-y)-y=3

1-2y=3

-2y=3-1

-2y=2

y=( -1 )

Now, for the value of 'x',

x+y=1

x+(-1)=1

x=1+1

x=2
