Then I had an idea ( adverbial clause of time)

An idea then came to me (adverbial clause of time)

Explanation:

  • A complex sentence is a sentence which comprise an independent/main clause and one or more subordinate/dependent clauses. A main/an independent clause can stand on its own as a sentence; however  a subordinate/dependent clause although has a subject and a verb, it cannot stand on its own alone, for example,  Sarah was excited  she got a part to play in the school drama (main/independent clause), even though it was a small role (subordinate clause)
  • An adverbial clause is a group of words which acts as an adverb and has a subject and a verb. The entire clause modifies an adjective, a verb, or another adverb. A complex sentence should have main clause and one or more dependent/subordinate clauses. The dependent/subordinate clause may be a noun clause, an adjective clause or an adverb clause. We form a complex sentence by joining simple sentences using subordinating conjunctions such as  as,  when, till, since, if, where,  unless, then, though, lest, that, weather, whereas and so on.  Subordinating conjunctions are words which introduce adverb clauses
  • An adverb clause of time shows when something takes place.  It is introduced by time adverb. Time adverbs are after, as, before, then, when, until, while, as soon as, no sooner than, since as long as, for example, Then Ravish selected up another book.
