Answer:

Let seema's age be 'x' years

and sudesh's age be 'y' years

⇒y=2x

⇒4(x−6)=(y+4)

⇒4(x−6)=2(2x+4)

⇒4x−2x=2x+4

⇒2x=28

Rightarrowx=14years

y=2x=28years

3 years ago seema was 11 years & sudesh was 25 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

\bf\underline{\underline{\red{Given:-}}}

  • Sudesh is twice as old as Seema.

  • If 6 years is subtracted from Seema's age and 4 years are added to Sudesh's age, Sudesh will be 4 times as old as Seema.

\bf\underline{\underline{\blue{To\:Find:-}}}

  • The age of Sudesh and Seema 3 years ago.

\bf\underline{\underline{\green{Solution:-}}}

Case 1:-

Let the present age of Seema be x

As, Sudesh is twice as old as Seema

The present age of Sudesh = 2x

Case 2:-

If 6 years is subtracted from Seema's age.

Age of Seema = x - 6

If 4 is added to Sudesh's age

Age of Sudesh = 2x + 4

Given, Sudesh will be four times as old as Seema.

So:-

\rm\implies 2x + 4 = 4( x - 6 )

\rm\implies 2x + 4 = 4x - 24

\rm\implies 4x - 2x = 24 + 4

\rm\implies 2x = 28

\rm \implies x = \dfrac{28}{2}

\rm \implies x = 14

The present age of Seema = x = 14

The present age of Sudesh

= 2x

= 2 × 14

= 28

The present age of Sudesh = 28

Now, we have to find their ages 3 years ago.

The age of Seema 3 years ago

= Present age of Seema - 3

= 14 - 3

= 11

The age of Seema 3 years ago = 11 years

The age of Sudesh 3 years ago

= Present age of Sudesh - 3

= 28 - 3

= 25

The age of Sudesh 3 years ago = 25 years.
