The amount of oil used by Sudha in a month = 13/20

Given:

Sudha bought an oil can

She gave 1/5 of oil from the can to her neighbor

The amount of oil that left end of the month = 3/20

To find:

The amount of oil she used in month

Solution:

Let the amount of oil in can is 1 unit

Given this Sudha gave 1/5 of oil is given to her neighbor

then the remaining oil = 1 - 1/5 = 4/5

Let us assume that Sudha used x unit amount of oil is in remaining oil then the amount of remaining oil will be equals to 4/5 - x

From given data,

Remaining oil = 3/20

=> 4/5 - x = 3/20

=> x = 4/5 - 3/20

=> x = [4(4)-3]/20

=> x = (16-3)/20

=> x = 13/20

Therefore,

Therefore,The amount of oil used by Sudha in a month = 13/20
