Cu is more reactive than Ag, therefore, displacement reaction occurs. When Cu is dipped in AgNO₃ it displaces Ag and a shinning deposit of Ag is formed on the coin.

2AgNO3(aq) + Cu(s)  ===>> Cu(NO3)2(aq) + 2Ag(s)

Due to displacement reaction. As copper is more reactive than silver, copper displaces silver and forms copper nitrate such that a glowing and shining material (silver) deposits on copper coin.

Balanced equation:-  2AgNO3(aq) + Cu(s)  Cu(NO3)2(aq) + 2Ag(s)
