Ulcer in the leg with dry and swollen ankles i.e. oedema is named as venous lef ulcer. The main testing procedure involves a Doppler study, that includes the blood pressure measurement of both the legs and comparing it with the blood pressure at the arms.

To treat the leg ulcer, the pressure in the leg veins need to be maintained low especially when the patient is in standing position. So, a tight compression bandage will be wrapped over the legs of the patient. Patient is adviced to keep the legs in higher position to maintain the low pressure.
