Although sugar and salt can take place the shape of container they are called as solids
- If we look closely into the jar the granules of sugar and salt does not completely fills the jar
- There would be air gaps present between the granules which is unlikely on the case of liquids
- To examine more closely pour water in the sugar container which will not increase the height of particles in container upto certain extent
- The water fills up the gaps present between the sugar or salt granules
