Suggest a method to find that a sample of alcohol (Ethanol) that you have is pure or not

"Take at least 100 millimetres of ethanol in a clean glass cylinder and dip a clean, dry hydrometer into this sample.


Allow it to stand for some a time and then take reading from the hydrometer. If it is within the range of 0.815 then it may be confirmed that the ethanol is pure.


0.815 is the specific gravity of ethanol. Specific gravity is the ratio of density of the liquid to the density of water at a specific temperature. Here the temperature is taken as 68 degrees Fahrenheit.


Ethanol (C2H6O) which is an isomer of dimethyl ether, is a commonly used industrial solvent.
