Atmospheric gases can be liquefied by applying pressure and lowering temperature. When enough pressure is applied, the gases are highly compressed into a small volume. The particles of gases get so close together that they start attracting one another sufficiently to form a liquid.

Only a few gases are cooled to liquefy them. To liquefy a gas we need to bring the gas molecules together very close to each other. This is achieved by compressing them using high pressures. At very high pressures, the boiling point of the liquid rises.
