Step 2:Water is added to the remaining mixture. Sugar dissolves in the added water. Now, we perform filteration. Sugar water passes the filter paper, residue obtained is mixture of sand and sulphur. This passed water can be evaporated to obtain the sugar.
Step 3:We add carbon disulphide to the mixture of sand and sulphur. Sulphur dissolves in the added carbon disulphide. We again carry out filteration. Sulphur in carbon disulphide solution passes unhindered, residue is sand. The carbon disulphide can be evaporated to obtain the sulphur.
Finally, we get all the constituents of the mixture separated.
