Experiment - The action of an electric fuse.

Take a piece of steel wool(steel wool is commonly used for cleaning utensils), and tie it between two nails.Next, make a simple circuit.
Now pass the current through the circuit for sometime.Observe the strand of wool carefully.Note what happens.

Dose the strand of steel wool melt and break?

Wires made from special materials melt quickly and break when large currents are passed through them.
These wires are used for making 'electric fuses'.
