Answer:

Take some water in a cup and in a dish. Leave them for some time. After sometime you will notice that the water in the dish will be disappeared and thre will be some water in the cup. This is because the rate of evaporation in the dish is more than the rate of evaporation in cup.The reason is the surface of the water exposed to the air in the dish is more than cup. This shows that the rate of evaporation increases with increase in surface area exposed. Now conduct this experiment on a humid day. You will notice that it will more time to evaporate because on a humid day the water vapour present in air will be more than the normal day due to which the molecules escaping from the dish will collide with these water molecules present in air and return back to the dish which reduce the rate of evaporation. So,we can say that the rate of evaporation depends upon the vapor present in the surrounding air.
