Some measures to stop land degradation in India are as follows:
a) Plant more trees – they give us shade, produce, prevents soil erosion and help increase rainfall.
b) Stop encroachment of forests and illegal cutting of trees – it reduces the green cover.
c) Set up more Rain Water Harvesting units – it rejuvenates the ground water levels.
d) Minimise use of chemical fertilisers – it effects the quality of produce. Organic fertilisers are not harmful for the soil.
e) Grow only what is necessary for sustenance.
f) Leave agricultural land for agriculture. Buildings and industries, especially those which let out harmful effluents, effect the soil and plant growth.
