Measures for ensuring the Independence of Election Commission

An election commission is an Independent body responsible for holding free and fair elections in India. To make sure that election commission doesn't act in a partisan manner nor under the influence of legislature or executive branch of the government , there are sufficient provisions that guarantees its independence and makes it powerful.  

a. Election Commission - Autonomous body which was  established in 1950- Responsible for administering Elections In India​

b.  Election commission   is responsible for conducting  free and fair election

c.  Takes decisions on every aspect of elections, implements code of conduct

d.  Election commission also checks the use  malpractices and ensures that candidate preferred by the people should get elected.

e. It timely takes cognizance of the incidents of booth capturing,  bribing or coaxing voters, using money and muscle power.

f. .EC takes all decisions related to elections. It declares the election dates, prepare electoral rolls, declare results.

g. .The EC has the power of punishing those candidates/parties who violate the Model Code of Conduct.

h. . During elections, the EC sets guidelines for the government, so that government does not misuses its power.
