India is multi-cultural country with the ethos of 'Unity in Diversity'

But the scourge of communal violence has from time to time disturbed the secular fabric of India.

Example- 1992, communal riots , followed by riots in Bombay, Godhra riots 2002,

Some steps to check communal violence:

1.complete ban on using religion as a political factor for vote bank politics.

2.Then ban on religion based on groups and parties can serve as an effective medium to control communalism.

3.Effectively promote the ideology of Secularism.

4.Generating general awareness among the people.

5. Religion based mobilisation must be discouraged.

6. A coalition of the oppressed castes, classes and gender across religions can overcome communalism.
