The Battle of Buxar was fought in 1764, between the British and the Indian forces led by Mir Qasim of Bengal, Shuja ud Daulah of Awadh and the Mughal army led by the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II. The Indian armies met a crushing defeat at the hands of Major Munro. The battle could have been avoided in some ways :

There were several reasons due to which the British were annoyed with Mir Qasim, the ruler of Bengal. If he had not implemented some administrative measures and shifted his capital from Monghyar to Murshidabad the conflict would not have escalated.

If Mir Qasim, Shuja ud daula and Shah Alam did not come into conflict with the British regarding Bengal the battle of Buxar would not have taken place.
