• Ozone is allotrope of oxygen with molecular formula O3 i.e. trioxygen.
• Layer of ozone gas is present in stratosphere.
• Ozone protects the earth from harmful UV radiations.
• Recently depletion of ozone layer is speeding because of use of florofluorocarbons as refrigerants.

# Measures to prevent ozone depletion -

• Stop using refrigerators, coolers using CFC as refrigerant.
• Decrease air pollution by planting trees.
• Decrease use of air polluting automobiles.
• Avoid use of nitrous oxide which depletes ozone.
• Decrease use of unnecessary pesticides.
