1) friction can be reduced making the surface in contact smoother. this can be done by polishing the surfaces , or applying oil or grease to them for lubrication.

2) a device called ball bearing is often used in certain machines to reduce friction.it consist of metal balls placed between two metal rings . As the rings rotate , the balls between them roll and reduce the friction between the rings .
