British defeated rebel leaders:Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansidied on field of battle on 17 June 1858. Nana Sahib defeated at Kanpur, escaped to Nepal in 1859. The laws they enacted made it easy for the British to prosecute. These include the likes of instant death for all the rebels.
