Employees in the unorganised sector should be entitled to a rainy-day pension, maternity leave benefits, accident compensation, natural mortality allowance, and education aid for children pursuing higher education. Central and state governments should design unique programmes to assist unorganised employees with their individual demands and needs.
Unorganized workers account for over half of all workers in the economy. Despite this, the law has largely backed assistance programmes for organised labour. To bring the country to full development, social security measures should cover all unorganised workers. Currently, social security measures cover only 6% of unorganised workers. This is also a tool for identifying genuine charitable workers, which the government can use to entice unorganised workers to report. The government should promote public awareness about the unorganised Workers' Welfare Fund and the State Fund's welfare programmes.
