Answer:

1) The data is too old, also try finding the new data and update if possible(but that is not your question, moving on) 2) The difference (reduction) in the net sown area is 1.85 % 3) Total land of India(note 100% of land area is considered in the pie chart so i am taking whole India, just forget about the extra land of POK and all) is 3,287,264 Sq Km. 4) 1.85 % of this is 60,814.3 Sq km (do you still think that is marginal!!!) 5) Delhi is (Only NCR) is 1484 Sq Km 6) The Net sowing area has reduced by 40 NCR regions(just an anology) 7) Just imagine the huge amount of land is getting transformed due to many reasons like Industrialization, desertification, conversion of arable land to pasture land, Migration, Climate change, rehabilitation due to project works, roads and Dams. 8) The same concept holds good for forest area. Bottom-line May be in terms of % it is low but in absolute terms this is a very big change in a very short time of 40 years . Never in the history of India you can witness such a case. This can also be attributed to the non remunerative nature of Indian agriculture , high division of land holdings , and a sign of transition of the economy to Manufacturing and service sector.
