Consumers and their rights as consumers, are often exploited by organisations to maximise their own profits. There are several measures in place, introduced by the government and society, to prevent this exploitation. Some measures are as follows:

1. Clear and stringent government laws and rules, to prevent substandard goods and services from being offered to the consumer.

2. A strong Consumer Body, that can take up issues and matters relating to exploitation, deliver just judgements and if necessary, take it up to higher courts.

3. Transparency. Organisations need to be transparent about their activities, products and services, to help consumers take a balanced decision.
