Well, the farmer can't do anything during dry season to save water if he hasn't prepared well during rainy season or at the time of adequate water supply!!

So, here are some methods to do before dry season comes,

1. Drip Irrigation

2. Capturing and Storing Water

3. Irrigation Scheduling

4. Drought-Tolerant Crops

5. Dry Farming

6. Rotational Grazing

7. Compost and Mulch

8. Cover Crops

9. Conservation Tillage

10. Going Organic

Answer:

There are many ways farmers cope up with the  dry season. One of them is that they store water for later use. The methods are as follows:

  • The farmers carefully select species of plant which are drought tolerant. The plants have extensive root system which can adapt to changes specially scarcity of water.
  • Another effective way is drip irrigation. In this system of small plastic pipes are fitted near plants which supply water at a very slow rate i.e 2-20 liters per hour. It is also called trickle irrigation.
  • Mulching is another method which is used by farmers in the dry season. In this a layer of materials like pebbles, gravels or rocks are applied over the top soil. This helps retain the soil moisture.
