The scheme was announced by the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao at farmers co-ordination committy conference on 25 February 2018.
Under rythu Bandhu, the Telangana government gives every beneficiary farmer Rs 4000 per acre as "investment support" before every crop season.
